Under direct supervision of a Recreation Program/Special Event Supervisor, Recreation Leaders are responsible for the operation and safe implementation of recreational programs and/or activities.

Current Recreation Leader vacancies are in the Recreation Services Division. Recreation Leaders assigned to this position will supervise participants, staff, volunteers and vendors. They will be responsible to assist in the planning, monitoring, preparation, and execution of the assigned recreation program. This position is part-time, temporary, and seasonal. Applicants must be available most weekdays between the hours of 7:00 am – 6:00 pm, and occasional evenings and weekends. For more detailed information please to review the complete job description.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this classification. An example would be 2 years experience with recreational activities in a leadership role. Some college units in recreation or related field are preferred but not required.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. Applicants selected will be subject to a criminal history investigation through the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and subject to a thorough background check. A waiver for reference and background information must be completed.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Class C California driver’s license is preferred. If incumbent does drive a City or personal vehicle, a safe driving record is required and must be maintained during the period of employment.
A first aid and CPR card is required within the first sixty days of employment, and proof of a tuberculosis (TB) test taken within the last 2 years are required and must be obtained by date of hire. Incumbents in this classification may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
City of Santee employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
Expected salary: $16 – 19 per hour
