Department: Anatomical SydPath
The Anatomical Pathology unit is a busy laboratory within SydPath. We are recruiting for a passionate, skilled and committed Technical Assistant to join our team. We are seeking those with knowledge and skills, but also the motivation to learn, develop, and contribute to all areas of the Anatomical Pathology department. They will be responsible for providing assistance and support to Technical/Scientific Histology, Cytology, Cancer genetics and Mortuary teams working under the direct supervision of area supervisors and operations manager. The incumbent will be required to provide assistant in delegated specimen data entry, preparation, housekeeping, clinical administration tasks and deceased patient duties.
Work days are Monday to Friday( day shift), some weekend work(if required) and participation on-call.

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

Selection Criteria :
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Demonstrated qualifications and/or experience in area of pathology
3. Highly developed oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills
4. Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette
5. Accurate and timely data entry skills
6. Ability to prioritise tasks, work under pressure and handle care of deceased patients
7. Ability to work unsupervised and to multi-task; Demonstrated attention to detail
8. Previous experience with a laboratory information system
