Job description
Reporting to the Senior Category Manager PHF, the Supplier Quality Specialist role is a brand new role to help manage the HelloFresh AU Procurement team to increase the quality of fresh produce delivered to our warehouse.
The Quality Specialist will work with suppliers to help educate them on our way of working and therefore our expectations for PHF quality and specifications. The Quality Specialist will also inspect the final product to make sure it complies with agreed specs. Internally, they are also there to provide expertise which will help address any supply chain issues that might impact produce quality.
They must fully understand the requirements for the product and have a sense of responsibility towards our potential and existing customers. The goal is to ensure that our products are at a level of quality and reliability that will allow us to drive sustainable growth within our market.
We are looking for someone with strong industry knowledge who can leverage their network to achieve results.
You will…
- Lead development and deployment of Supplier Quality Management standards, processes and tools which support standardisation, simplification and collaboration across the HelloFresh procurement team, QC team and our suppliers. Aim is to drive increased PHF quality of incoming goods
- In alignment with PHF Category manager and Culinary team, define produce quality requirements (specifications) for suppliers and monitor their compliance. Continuously review specifications documents for internal Quality Assurance teams and suppliers and propose changes to specifications where relevant
- Conduct regular supplier visits in order to analyse supplier growing / manufacturing processes & resulting product quality and make recommendations for improvements
- Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Supplier Quality activities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
- Provide industry expertise on produce seasonality to PHF category managers, Culinary and Menu Planning teams
- Lead procurement specific Root Cause Analysis projects on produce quality errors
- Be on the lookout for opportunities for improvement and develop new efficient procedures, such as evaluating the impact of storage/transportation conditions on produce quality
- Be the first point of contact on quality issues with suppliers and internal stakeholders including advising and coordinating replenishments, and taking ownership of quality related issues
You are/have…
- 5+ years of experience in the fresh produce categories, preferably certified/trained in PHF quality
- Experience in Procurement, Supply Chain or Quality Management
- Strong experience in goods-in checks and specifications definition / management
- Understanding of Quality Management System, HACCP, GMP, GHP, Food Authority and Australian standards will be highly valued
- Experience dealing with (food) suppliers and knowledge of the Australian produce, herbs and fruits supply base
- Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive, ambitious, and assertive: you take ownership of your work and are not afraid of rolling up your sleeves to make things happen
- Entrepreneurial and can make things happen
- Strong problem solving and structural thinking skills
- Has a good eye for detail
- Naturally curious and enjoy driving continuous improvements
- Flexibility and willingness to travel within NSW and Interstate

Start Date: ASAP
Location: 40-60% at HelloFresh Warehouse in Pemulwuy, NSW or our warehouses in Melbourne and Perth ; 20% on supplier visits ; 20-40% at Chippendale head office or WFH
