Summary:
Responsible for the delivery and pickup of roll off containers while safely operating a roll off truck to service customers with a sense of urgency in a safe and efficient manner. Operates with no preset route schedule or time frame.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Transports containers from 11 yards to 40 yards from site to site as required.
- Perform daily pre-and post-trip inspections. Complete and submit vehicle condition reports at the end of the shift.
- Maneuver truck into and out of minimum clearance spaces, using mirrors to back distances up to approximately 120 feet.
- Operates hoist and lift equipment on vehicle.
- Secure containers by attaching hook to container; uses control levers to pull container up on the bed of the truck, use auto tarp system and/or hand tarp and secures straps to individual containers.
- Determines if containers have recyclable material or if they can be transported directly to the landfill.
- Courteously interact with customers and/or the general public along the route to answer questions or respond to requests and notify supervisor of any issues requiring management action.
- Reports incidents immediately to Department Supervisor.
- Scan customer site before and after dumping.
- Must be flexible to work early and late hours depending on workload.
- Attend weekly mandatory safety meetings.
- Maintains a clean truck interior and exterior.
- Performs other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with air-brake endorsement.
- Acceptable driver record required.
- One year of previous experience operating a CDL vehicle.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or the equivalent; one year of driving experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Commercial license Class A or B.
Current medical certificate.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and write English, interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. They should also be able to speak English effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
